Istanbul based artist, Omer Yigit Aral, born in Samsun in 1971. Aral completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul.
He earned his Bachelor’s (1989–1996), Master’s (1996–2000), and Proficiency in Art / Ph.D. equivalent (2000–2009) degrees in Painting from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, where he studied under prominent Turkish master artists.
In 1996, he spent time in the United States for language studies and professional research.
Beginning his academic career as a research assistant, Aral advanced through academic ranks at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, becoming an Associate Professor in 2012 and a full Professor in 2018.
Over the years, he has served in several leadership roles, including Department Head most notably in the Department of Art Works Conservation and Restoration and Dean of the Faculty.
Today, alongside his academic and administrative career, he actively continues his studio practice on 9th Street in Maslak, locally known as the "Artisans Street"
